Kalaschnikow – mon amour

Dates

von Dschungel Wien

Age 14 and over / Year 8 and above

Why does a teenager tattoo a Kalashnikov on his forearm? Is it an expression of violence? Or a symbol of freedom and even hope? Together with young Afghan and Iraqi refugees, the dance performance examines images of masculinity and their social construction. The Kalashnikov reminds them of the war they fled. It is about trauma and dream, healing and injury, anger and forgiveness. The piece is about the desire to live in peace with oneself and others.
