Schau mich an! (Look at me!)
von Joachim Schloemer
Age 9 and over / Year 4 and above
Look at me! is a dance piece about life in the light and in the darkness. A male and female dancer pull crazy moves in an attempt to be the focus of attention. They enjoy the light, but sometimes they need to retreat to the shade.
It’s nice being in the limelight; it means we get seen! At the same time, though, it takes a lot of energy. It requires us to like, post, film and take selfies. One of the characters dreams of becoming a YouTube star, while the other wants to be big on TikTok. The idea is that you are what you post: successful, beautiful and cheerful, But what if we’re not in a particularly good mood – how should we present ourselves then? What do we do with any sadness and anger? Who are we in real life?
